Simple Past Tense: used to indicate a single act or action in the past

Affirmative

Interrogative

Negative

He worked.

Did he work?

He did not work.

Did it work?

It did not work.

Did you work?

You did not work.

I worked.

Did I work?

Formula:

Subject + past tense (2nd form of the verb) + any complement

Cues: adverb of time such as yesterday, last week, last month, 2022, five minutes ago, an hour ago, etc.

Examples:

  1. George Washington united the USA.
  2. We went to cinema last week.
  3. He left twenty minutes ago.
  4. He didn’t reply to my letter.
